Rita Zolotova is Director of Policy at Wickr, end-to-end encrypted communications platform, where she leads a global effort to raise privacy & security awareness among human rights activists, journalists, enterprises & policy-makers. At Wickr, Rita oversees the company’s policy on encryption, privacy & security to ensure data protection is built into every product decision. As part of r00tz.org executive team, Rita also helps run DefCon’s r00tz Asylum village, the world’s largest hacker forum for kids where they learn reverse engineering, crypto, hacker ethics & more.
Previously, Rita worked at Middlebury Institute’s Center for Nonproliferation Studies where she designed strategies for use of open source technology in nuclear arms control. Rita has degrees in Political Science, Economics, holds a Masters Degree in Terrorism & Nonproliferation Studies from Middlebury Institute.
