Gabriela is an expert in European Union privacy law, including the GDPR. She is currently a Policy Counsel for the Future of Privacy Forum working on Transatlantic privacy and she runs her own boutique consultancy. Before moving to the US, she worked in Brussels as legal officer for the European Data Protection Supervisor, having advised on files such as the GDPR, the EU-US Privacy Shield and the EU-US Umbrella Agreement. Gabriela also participated to the work of the Article 29 Working Party. She has a PhD in law (University of Craiova, 2013) with a thesis on the rights of the data subject and their adjudication in civil law courts and an LLM in Human Rights. She publishes regularly in journals and collective volumes, having been awarded the Junior Scholar Award by the Computers Privacy and Data Protection Conference in Brussels (2014). Gabriela is also an affiliated researcher with the Law, Science, Technology and Society research center of the Vrije Universiteit Brussels.
