Wendy Li is a Ph.D. student in sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studies international trade, technology policy, and internet governance.
Her research traces the development of digital trade norms and standards over the past decade, with particular focus on how interest groups, civil society organizations, and the private sector employ expertise and influence to shape trade agreements. She draws upon ethnographic methods, including participant observation, analysis of official documents, and interviews with public officials, diplomats, lobbyists, activists, and trade experts.
Prior to academia, Li served in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and the U.S. Department of State. She holds an A.B. in Public and International Affairs and a Certificate in Visual Arts from Princeton University.
