Caitlin Vogus is a staff attorney for the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, primarily focusing on the organization’s amicus work in cases involving freedom of information, court access, and First Amendment issues. Recently, she led the development of the Reporters Committee’s amicus brief submitted to the Nevada Supreme Court to help the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Associated Press successfully fight a court order barring them from reporting on a public autopsy record. Caitlin is also involved in the Reporters Committee’s litigation work, most recently representing two freelance journalists in a lawsuit that secured the release of the police operation plans for the August 2017 “Unite the Right” rally, which helped shed light on law enforcement’s actions during the event. Previously, Caitlin was an Attorney Advisor in the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau of the FCC and a law clerk to the Honorable Rossie D. Alston, Jr. of the Virginia Court of Appeals.
