Charlyn Stanberry serves as Chief of Staff for Rep. Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09), the Vice Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee. Previously, Charlyn served as the Legislative Director and Counsel where she managed Rep. Clarke’s legislative portfolio and oversaw her committee work. Prior to working for Rep. Clarke, Charlyn served as Vice President of External Affairs for a consulting firm, Counsel for the Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council (MMTC) and Professional Staff for the Congressional Black Caucus in the 113th Congress.

Charlyn earned her J.D. from Florida International University’s College of Law and her B.S.B.A. and M.P.A. from the University of Central Florida. She is admitted into the Maryland Bar and is a member of the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Federal Communications Bar Association, Washington Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia and the Greater Washington Area Chapter of the Women Lawyers’ Division of the National Bar Association (GWAC).

Charlyn is also an adjunct professor at the University of the District of Columbia where she teaches Foundation Ethics & Values and Discovery Civics. She also serves in leadership roles with Junior League of Washington, Washington Bar Association Educational Foundation, Inc., Women in Government Relations and New Leaders Council DC. A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., she was named a 2019 Dynamic Hill Staffer by Lawyers of Color and received the 2018 GWAC Rising Star Award, 2018 Black Women’s Congressional Alliance Rising Star Award and 2015 NBLSA Alumni of the Year Award.

Charlyn has served as a panelist on communications law and policy issues for numerous organizations including the ABA Forum on Communications Law, National Bar Association-Young Lawyers Division, Federal Communications Bar Association, TPRC: Research Conference on Communications, Information and Internet Policy, German Marshall Fund and the Multicultural Media, Telecom and Internet Council.
