Hana Schank is a Public Interest Technology Fellow at New America. Her research focuses on innovation efforts within the public sector, particularly the application of human-centered design thinking and technology to society's biggest challenges. Previously she was a director at the Department of Homeland Security Digital Service, part of USDS. Schank founded and was managing director of CollectiveUX, a design, research and development consultancy that worked with public and private sector clients. She is also the author of two works of nonfiction, and a frequent contributor to the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlantic, and Fast Company. Her second book, THE AMBITION DECISIONS: What Women Know About Work, Family, and the Path to Building a Life- a research-based guide to the big decisions women encounter over the course of their lives- will be published in June by Viking Penguin.
