Selina MacLaren is an associate attorney at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP. Previously, Selina was the Stanton Foundation Free Press/National Security Legal Fellow at the Reporters Committee, where she works on First Amendment, national security, and free expression issues. With Reporters Committee attorneys, she litigated access cases, including efforts to unseal electronic surveillance records related to criminal leak prosecutions to help the public better understand how the government obtains journalist-source communications. Her litigation work has also included a district-wide unsealing matter in the district court in D.C., which increased public access to information about law enforcement surveillance. Selina also supports the organization’s amicus brief practice, including on four briefs filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in cases affecting journalists' newsgathering rights. Previously, Selina was a litigation associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, where her practice focused on complex commercial litigation and white-collar defense.
