Sunny Seon Kang is Sr. Privacy Counsel and Head of Policy at Inpher, a privacy-enhancing cryptography and machine learning company. She advises on U.S. and international data privacy laws, regulatory and government affairs, and AI policy. Prior to joining Inpher, Sunny was International Consumer Counsel at the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) and a Fellow at Stanford Law School. She has testified before the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on IoT data security, filed an FTC complaint against Facebook’s collection of biometric data, and advised regulatory agencies on GDPR implementation, algorithmic accountability, and privacy by design. Sunny has also worked on emerging technology and privacy matters at the Office of the California Attorney General Kamala Harris, and TechFreedom as a Legal Fellow. Sunny holds degrees from University College London (LL.B.), UC Berkeley School of Law (LL.M. in Technology and IP), and Stanford Law School (J.S.M. in Juridical Science). She is a member of the New York bar.
