Gena Hong

My curiosity for how different people shape the world around them and how I might impact their ability to do so has led me to create an unusual path as a designer. I’ve worked on projects for the National Institutes of Health, Bridj, Datawheel, Cognizant Digital, and Wellesley Centers for Women. But if you pressed me to pick a favorite, it would have to be my experience teaching for the Refugee Youth Enrichment program. My once high-school students have now graduated from college, gotten married, and had kids!

While the problems I’ve tackled have been in fields ranging from women's health to urban transit, I’ve approached each experience with a core value that we must always listen closely to those with the most lived experience and intimate knowledge of the problem.

I design for the moments when my team accomplishes something we could have never done individually, when we not only dream up, but also deliver experiences that surpass users’ imaginations.
