Dominique Harrison

Dominique Harrison is a Project Manager at the Aspen Institute Communications and Society Program; a program that promotes integrated, thoughtful, values-based decision making in the fields of communications, media, and information policy. She is passionate about working to make high-speed Internet accessible to low-income and rural populations both in the U.S. and internationally, and creating opportunities for youth to be involved in S.T.E.A.M programs.

At the Institute Dominique manages the Conference on Communications Policy, the Dialogue on Public Libraries, and directs the Aspen Institute Guest Scholar Program, a scholarship initiative meant to give students of color the opportunity to foster their professional and academic career in the field of telecommunications policy and artificial intelligence. Dominique also teaches Media and Social Change and Multiculral Media History at Trinity Washington University as an Adjunct Professor.

Dominique holds a B.S. in Advertising from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, a M.A. in Media Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Communication Technology Policy from Howard University. Her dissertation examines gender awareness among stakeholders of Jamaica’s ICT policy. The study uses interviews with individuals from civil society, government, and private sector organizations in Jamaica’s ICT field in order to determine whether the needs and interests of Jamaican women are being taken into account.
