Maya Indira Ganesh is a freelance researcher and scholar working on machine learning, ethics and accountability. She has two Masters degrees and is a doctoral candidate at Leuphana University, Lüneburg, Germany, where she is also a 2018 Fellow at the Media Cultures of Computer Simulation (MECS) Lab. Maya has spent the last two decades as a researcher and activist working at the intersection of information security, privacy, gender, and human rights conducting research and developing projects about supporting human rights defenders to be secure online and offf. From 2009 to 2017 she worked at Tactical Technology Collective in a variety of organisational and line management, grant-reporting, communications and networking roles in addition to being a researcher, writer and manager. She has spoken widely at technology and media events in Europe, Asia and North America. Maya is a contributor to the tech-theory blog, Cyborgology.
