Elke Schwarz is Lecturer in Political Theory at Queen Mary University and holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her research focuses on the intersection of ethics of war and ethics of technology with an emphasis on the ethics of unmanned and autonomous / intelligent military technologies and their impact on the politics of contemporary warfare. Elke is involved in a number of inter-disciplinary initiatives on the ethics of drone warfare and is currently working on a British Academy/Leverhulme funded project on military ethics and Artificial Intelligence. She is the author of ‘Death Machines: The Ethics of Violent Technologies’ (Manchester University Press), which investigates how technologies shape subjectivities, and, in turn, ethics. Elke is also co-convenor of the BISA working group ‘Ethics and Wold Politics’.
