Renee DiResta is the Director of Research at New Knowledge, and Head of Policy at nonprofit Data for Democracy. Renee investigates the spread of disinformation across social networks, and helps policymakers understand the problem. She has advised Congress, the State Dept., and other academic, civic, and business leaders. In 2017, Renee was a Presidential Leadership Scholar. In 2018, she became a Mozilla Fellow in Media, Misinformation, and Trust. She is a Founding Adviser to the Center for Humane Technology, and a Staff Associate at Columbia University Data Science Institute.
Previously, Renee was a co-founder of Vaccinate California, and on the founding team of logistics tech platform Haven. Renee has been a VC at OATV, and a derivatives trader at Jane Street. Her work & writing have been featured in the NYT, Washington Post, Politico, Slate, Wired, Fast Company, and the Economist. She is the author of O’Reilly book “The Hardware Startup: Building Your Product, Business, and Brand”.
