Genya developed international partnerships to support scientific research on brain science and biological engineering. She served as a negotiator on science, technology and innovation in multi-lateral organizations such as the UN. She spent 5.5 years at the U.S. Department of State working at the nexus of science and foreign policy in the Office of the Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State. Genya has a PhD in Environmental Risk Analysis on genetically modified organisms in South Africa.
