Professor Alice Armitage is a member of the faculty at UC Hastings Law School. She is also Director of Applied Innovation at UC Hastings. In that role, she has supervised two innovative programs, the Startup Legal Garage for 6 years, and now LexLab. LexLab is an innovation hub for legal technology. She has published articles on the legal issues confronting startups in the US, and on the inherent tensions between regulation and innovation.
Professor Armitage is a graduate of the Yale Law School where she was the first woman Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Law Journal. She also has an A.B. and an M.A. in British and American Literature from Brown University. Her pre- UC Hastings career includes practicing international tax law at a large firm, working as a regulator for the US Department of the Treasury, and founding two startups.
